Vertical stories are becoming series

On 23 September, YouTube launched Shorts series. Creators can now group their Shorts into seasons and episodes, just like a TV show. The move isn't random: microdramas drew 6.5 billion views on YouTube in the first half of 2026, and Omdia expects the global market to reach $14 billion by year end.

For brands the message is clear: vertical video is no longer just for quick teasers. A short series of 5–6 episodes with one character and one story can hold an audience for weeks, something a single spot rarely achieves.

In practice, we plan our shoots vertical-first: framing, pacing and subtitles are designed for the phone screen from the start. One shoot can then deliver both the horizontal spot and a full series for social.
